Beste studenten,
Ik ben Sophie, 22 jaar oud en student Biomedical Sciences. Ik heb mijn studie een jaartje op pauze gezet om me in te zetten als studentassessor van de Medische Faculteit van de Radboud Universiteit. Ik vind het belangrijk dat de stem van studenten goed wordt gehoord over zaken zoals onderwijs, de inrichting van het studiecentrum en andere voorzieningen op onze faculteit. Ik ben vaak te vinden op de SOOS-kamer, aan het bureau helemaal rechts achterin. Daar drink ik het liefst een kop thee of cappuccino, terwijl ik met het SOOS-bestuur en andere studenten gezellig bijpraat over hun week. Kom gerust langs om kennis te maken of om iets aan te kaarten! Ik sta altijd open voor vragen.
Maar wat doet een studentassessor van de Medische Faculteit nu eigenlijk precies? Als studentassessor ben ik vooral bezig met het vertegenwoordigen van alle studenten van Geneeskunde, Tandheelkunde, Biomedische Wetenschappen en Molecular Mechanisms of Disease van onze faculteit. In de praktijk betekent dit dat ik contact onderhoud met allerlei medezeggenschapsorganen, zoals het SOOS, de Ko-raad, de Facultaire Studentenraad (FSR), de Onderwijsmanagementteams (OMT’s) en Opleidingscommissies (OLC’s). De input die ik hier verzamel, overleg ik vervolgens met de opleidingsdirecteuren, de directeur van het RHA (Radboud Health Academy) Janneke van der Woude en de decaan Jan Smit. Ook spreek ik regelmatig met de assessoren van andere faculteiten om ideeën uit te wisselen over universiteitsbrede zaken. Deze punten bespreken we maandelijks met de Rector Magnificus van de Radboud Universiteit. Daarnaast ben ik betrokken bij verschillende landelijke overleggen met andere medische faculteiten. Dear students,
I’m Sophie, 22 years old and a Biomedical Sciences student. I’ve taken a year off from my studies to serve as a student assessor for the Medical Faculty at Radboud University. I believe it’s important for the student voice to be heard on matters like education, the setup of the study center, and other facilities on our faculty. You can often find me in the SOOS room, at the desk at the far right in the back. I prefer to drink a cup of tea or cappuccino there while catching up with the SOOS board and other students about their week. Feel free to drop by to get to know me or to raise any issues! I’m always open to questions.
But what exactly does a student assessor for the Medical Faculty do? As a student assessor, my main role is to represent all students from Medicine, Dentistry, Biomedical Sciences, and Molecular Mechanisms of Disease at our faculty. In practice, this means I stay in contact with various student councils, such as SOOS, the Ko-raad, the Faculty Student Council (FSR), the Education Management Teams (OMTs), and Program Committees (OLCs). I then discuss the input I gather with the program directors, the director of the RHA (Radboud Health Academy), Janneke van der Woude, and the dean, Jan Smit. I also regularly meet with assessors from other faculties to exchange ideas on university-wide issues. We bring these topics up monthly with the Rector Magnificus of Radboud University. Additionally, I’m involved in several national meetings with other medical faculties. So, it’s a very diverse and educational role. Interested in potentially doing a year as an assessor yourself?
